Make It Monday – Winter 2019
I have a cup of coffee, grab your favorite beverage and join me as I try a new recipe on Make It Mondays….
I have been craving my favorite donuts for about 2 months now, but the fact that they are not really that good for me – fried and all, has kept me away from this cheat meal.
On this Monday though I tried a baked “old fashion” buttermilk donuts – no frying I found this recipe on Pinterest. Pretty much every thing in the recipe I already had in my kitchen so deciding on giving these a try was easy.
Now I usually do not have buttermilk {although I did today, go figure}, I would make my own – I have done this for years! It is just, what I call, sour milk – vinegar and milk – do not ever use spoiled milk – Yuck! use fresh milk – – 1 tablespoon of white vinegar to 1 cup of milk – let it sit until you start seeing it curdle – that is the sign that it is ready. I do need to see what happens if we use soy or almond milk, but that will be another day…
Instead of making a full recipe, I halved it – I did not need 18 donuts when I am trying to get in shape for our daughters wedding, right?
What are the results??? They really do not taste like the old fashioned buttermilk donuts that I am use to, sorry. They were just so-so – the glaze was too sweet. And because I would not ever try this recipe again, I won’t be sharing it with you today. I do not recommend it… and unfortunately, I am still craving my favorite donuts. Maybe I will just break down and go have one… otherwise I will be trying another donut recipe on a Tuesday…
Thanks for stopping by for a cup – –
Have a Wonderful Day
